Account Director – Marketing - London

We are recruiting for a Managing Director for our client, a London 50 person agency in the social, influencer and experiential space. This role reports into the board at a group level.

About the role

This role is responsible for bringing horsepower into an agency that was launched just over 5 years ago and has grown rapidly.

This role will drive topline growth through leading the Managing Partner - Client Services (MPCS); Sales and Marketing team and through your own agency profile.

In addition to the above, the Head of Data and Insight (inc. Strategist); Head of Finance; Head of People will report into you.

Agency Growth

You will create a best-in-class Marketing team that ensures positive brand recognition for the agency, working closely with the business development team. You will be the face of the agency and will be comfortable attending conferences, delivering keynotes, participating in podcasts, authoring thought leadership pieces, and having a strong LinkedIn presence.

You are expected to be talking to 20 people a week, be it networking, entertaining or at client offices.

You will act as the pitch lead on all new opportunities and have responsibility for RFPs.

People

This role oversees operational excellence, through managing the Head of People and Head of HR you will build a culture where people are professionally challenged. You will lead the agency out of the start-up phase into the scale up phase. They expect to grow from 50 people in the UK to 100 within 18 months of appointment.

You will inject enthusiasm and corral the separate functions into a cohesive team. You will ensure the hiring always improves the organisation and you will be responsible for developing the future business leaders. Excellent internal communications is a pre-requisite as they bring their people on the journey with them.

Industry props

You will support the MPCS to deliver Creative Agency of the Year and an Effie for their effective work. You will take the lead on delivering Agency of the year and their desire to become a Times 100 top employer.

Corporate

You, in conjunction with the Financial Controller, will oversee any acquisition work and should the company seek to obtain external investment, you would lead that process.

You will keep the business compliant with all local legislation, including ASA guidelines; GDPR and intellectual property rights.

You will play the lead role in investor relations.

Product

The MPCS will keep the agency abreast of all social technologies (specifically platforms), your role will be to ensure that the agency moves out of its social roots and becomes a wider integrated player.

You will be responsible for creation of all the sales assets, including web and social.

You will, in conjunction with the MPCS provide high level strategic counsel to senior brand players. You are expected to move the agency up the hierarchy from tactical execution to trusted partner.

You will ensure that the business runs effectively, driving process improvements and the digitisation of the organisation.

Financial

You will manage the FC and together you will have the responsibility for the agency performance, setting the Turnover, Profit, Working Capital and Margin targets for the year. You will then hit those targets.
